Street life 2017

An array of daytime recordings made along street markets and other gathering-places which are pedestrianised by official design or unofficial habit. Playback of each recording is synced to a simple animation plotting the route taken.

Description: Starting at the western end of Rupert Court by the junction with Rupert Street. Indistinct traffic; voices; footsteps; air conditioning or fume extractor hum; a busker sings and plays the guitar on Wardour Street; a man speaks slowly through a PA in Gerrard Street in front of a stall supporting the Falun Gong sect; a busker plays the guitar near the junction with Macclesfield Street; the noise of restaurant fume extractors grows louder; another busker plays a few uncertain notes on a guitar.
