Description: Starting at the junction of New Cross Road and Deptford High Street. Traffic on New Cross road, receding; voices of stallholders and passersby; radio adverts and recorded music (mostly reggae) from successive stalls; two women shoppers talk as they keep pace with the recordist for a short while; airplane drone; noise of a fishmonger's electric saw; rustle of carrier bags; brief chopping sounds; faint squeak and clatter of clothes-hangers on rails; a van moves slowly towards the junction with Douglas Way; a street preacher speaks through a tiny handheld loudspeaker as she walks slowly along; clatter of goods being handled on junk stalls.
