Description: An ex-LNER 4-6-0 blasts up Chorleywood bank with a down special during London Underground's 1998 Steam on the Met event. Just as the steam loco draws level with my recording position on the station platform an up Met Line train of A60 stock arrives in the station, partly blanking out the sound of the steam special - however, the distinctive whistling sound of the engine of the Class 20 diesel loco bringing up the rear of the special can stil be heard; the Underground train's closing door warning sounds, the sliding doors close and the train drfits off downhil towards Rickmansworth, while the special continues to charge up the gradient towards Amersham. Recorded from the up platform of Chorleywood station.
