Street life 2017

An array of daytime recordings made along street markets and other gathering-places which are pedestrianised by official design or unofficial habit. Playback of each recording is synced to a simple animation plotting the route taken.

Description: Starting in Union Street by an alleyway leading west into Crown Passage. A busker plays the saxophone; footsteps; the brief chink of a coin added to the busker's hat; voices of passersby in Crown Passage; a door slams; calls of one or more jackdaws; Latin music from a bar or cafe in Harrow Passage; a child screams in excitement; sizzling of food being cooked outside; a hubbub of voices in Kingston Market; a stallholder raises his cry; the saxophone busker is heard again from Church Street; rattle of wheeled luggage; air conditioning or fume extractor hum grows louder.
