Six Charming Children 1812
These plates were originally produced for S. & J. Fuller’s ‘Temple of Fancy’ in Rathbone Place in 1812. According to the National Portrait Gallery’s index of British artists’ supplies, the Temple opened in 1809 and early on addressed the market for genteel products for wealthy women. It quickly grew into one of the leading print publishing houses of early 19th-century London. The plates were reproduced in an 1883 edition of Andrew White Tuer’s ‘London Cries’.
